Android採取開放措施,讓每個人都可以使用並且加入這個手機系統的陣營,不過現在Android系統也開始面臨到許多開源軟體會遇到的問題--「分支」。其實昨天看到遠傳推出的Commtiva就在想這個問題了,不過國外BussinessWeek已經有更完整的專文討論這個問題,所以在這邊就擷取當中內容的綱要,加上一個自己的疑問。 


1.代碼分裂

雖然在Google的支持作為後盾的前提之下,越來越多的廠商加入Android系統的使用及開發,由於Android採用的是Apache授權,該授權可以允許再散佈程式時,可以選擇不再公開原始碼,所以其實各家使用Android時,都要注意避免對其做出的修改太過度,以免造成針對自己產品修改後的軟體,幾乎是另一個分支的版本的情況。

 

加上目前Google方面也已經鼓勵開發者;針對各家通信商開發專屬的程式,這會造成一個情形是幫美國T-Mobile開發的程式,在Sprint上面就沒辦法使用。
 

 

2.品牌稀釋度

這當中提到了越來越多廠商使用,而且又有經過各種不同的介面修改和使用方式,可能會造成Android在用戶對其認知上逐漸薄弱。不過這點個人倒是覺得還好,因為其實過去Windows Mobile也遇過同樣的情形,但是會用這些系統手機的人還是會知道這個系統的品牌。

 

3.各種客製化的應用

當中提到像是Cliq就有五方向的按鍵,而可能其他品牌也會有針對特殊硬體的客製化設計,這樣也許針對某一支手機設計的軟體,在其他Android上使用就會造成問題。


軟體市場分裂

除了BussinessWeek提到的部份,目前自己覺得比較嚴重的分裂和品牌削弱情形,反而是在App Market軟體市場的部份。從遠傳自己附帶商城的Commtiva跟中移動要推的oPhone來看,如果電信商們為了要能夠自己賺軟體市場的錢;而開始選擇以不附加Google服務軟體(Gmail,Maps,App Market)形式來使用Android;基本上,這部份就已經讓Google對於當初推出Android的用意大打折扣。

 

雖然第三方軟體也可以開發出使用Google API的相關軟體,或者附加其他類似功能的軟體替代,但是個人覺得,除了影響App Market的成長之外,這對於Android本身的品牌形象損傷才是最大的。

 

不知道Google之後會不會在oPhone、或其他通信商的自定商城中,推出關於App Market等相關軟體,還是就坐視這樣市場分裂的情形逐漸發展下去?這樣的分裂造成的後續影響,或許其他在人口數不多的通信商自營商城市場中還不會很嚴重,但是以中國移動要自己營運oPhone的情況來說,就感覺其實是一個相當大的隱憂。
