這個過年期間比較大的資訊新聞，大概算是Intel和Nokia在2010 MWC大會中，宣布將各自的行動裝置系統Moblin及Maemo合併為一個計畫稱之為MeeGo。

Linux.com當中，有說明了MeeGo合併之後的系統架構圖，Maemo 5使用的GTK在合併後，由於Moblin使用的Clutter也會使用到，所以應該還是會部分保留。

而二家公司合作之外，Linux基金會似乎也會參與計畫，至少目前MeeGo網站是架在Linux基金會底下，算是淡化了一些MeeGo為二公司所有的色彩。而這項合併計畫當中各自的算盤或許是如下：

對Intel來說，由於他們即將推Moorestown的CPU希望能運用在小型行動裝置，雖然目前有LG或是像Aava Mobile已經有推出樣品，但是如果透過這樣的合作，能夠讓Nokia採用Moorestown推出產品的話，對於自家產品也會有不錯的背書效果，而且透過與Nokia這間行動電話領域經驗較多的公司合作，或許對於自家CPU在日後的改進上可以獲得許多寶貴的建議。

對Nokia而言，雖然Maemo是個強大的平台，但是專為Maemo寫的軟體，目前跟後起的Android比起來反而是少得可憐，而Intel的Moblin在軟體倉庫上的設計，本身就已經可以使用許多既有的Linux軟體，或許合併後在軟體應用的數量上可以擴增許多，而且Moblin的UI設計也有其獨特之處，對於Maemo目前在UI上需要作的改進也會有所幫助。

對於Linux基金會而言，雖然Android目前是相當受歡迎並以Linux作為底層的系統，但是其架構上允許專有驅動程式的中間層設計，讓Linux核心開發人員不得不將Android相關程式碼從核心中移除，個人猜想會出現這樣的舉動，或許有可能是Linux基金會人員在協助MeeGo專案時，發現Android程式碼這樣的情況，會導致Linux核心在MeeGo當中使用會遭遇到許多無法使用或是必須接受私有驅動的問題，這對於一個希望建立完整的行動Linux平台的單位來說，是不太會去允許的事情(以上僅為個人臆測)。

而且相較於Android限制性的開發環境，MeeGo本身具有較為完整的Linux系統架構，對於Linux基金會底下慣於開發Linux程式的開發人員來說，也可以在限制較少的情況下得以快速協助上手。

而對於iPhone OS從小型裝置踏入到平板裝置iPad的情況來說，目前想要推出類似商品的廠商，大多會採用Android系統，或是以Windows架構的平板電腦作為考慮，但是由於Android系統本身就是僅為小型裝置設計的，在運用在較高解析度的狀態下，目前也尚未有類似針對iPad的方式(如軟體可全螢幕執行)做好最佳化，而如果要採用Chrome OS，卻又尚未能夠享有到Android AppMarket所提供的資源優勢，雖然Google方面有提出二項系統終究將會整合的消息，但是目前也尚未看到有相關的動作或推出，而Windows平板電腦當初就已經未能打開市場，再推出會獲得關注的機會則可說是更小。

所以對於MeeGo平台的有利機會點，應該就在於是否能夠在其他共同用於小型及中型行動終端產品的系統推出前，做好整合完成的動作，並且也要看二家公司在各自硬體領域上的專業品牌形象，是否能夠吸引到其他廠商加入採用MeeGo平台，獲得如同目前Android所得到的人氣關注以及人力資源來決定了。
